When does this part need to be replaced? This part needs to be replaced when the washing machine's internal computer can no longer spin or communicate with the drum drive. Usually error codes 3C or 3E are displayed indicating direct motor drive, tachometer, or inverter PCB communication failure. or error codes: bE (or bE2) are diplayed indicating control board button/relay short or main motor drive communication loop failure. Other signs are when the drum refuses to agitate or spin, the drum violently jerks back or forth or the bottom of the washer hums or vibrates loudly.
